All (230 words)

Canadian songwriters Paul Mowbray and Tracy Mills create adult-oriented original songs. Starting from lyrical-folk footings and classical sensibilities, they develop enticing melodies, and layer on touches of rock and blues. Together since 2006, Mowbray and Mills perform regularly on Vancouver Island individually, as a duo, and with the Mowbray Mills Band. The play folk rock and sound like a snowball fight between the Dave Matthews Band and Vivaldi.

In Oct 2009, they founded the Victoria Regional Writers Group (part of the Songwriters Association of Canada), to bring songwriters together to foster the skill and craft of songwriting.

Paul Mowbray
Paul Mowbray comes from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, via Afghanistan and Java, and has been on the west coast of B.C. since 1985. He has taught guitar and songwriting for over 20 years and draws musical influence from the great pop songwriters of Tin Pan Alley to today. He was artistic director of the Salt Spring Island Jazz Festival in 2010.

Tracy Mills
Tracy Mills comes from Edmonton, Alberta. Starting out as one of Canada’s “original 26” Suzuki kids, she developed her improvisational and songwriting skills playing pop, blues, and rock. Tracy’s classical background fuses with her love of popular music to give the guitar/violin sound that defines much of the Mowbray and Mills material. Her vocal influences tend to blues/jazz stylings and strong improvisational abilities lead to much excitement live.
